The Carlton

Edinburgh

Hotel

The Carlton Hotel in Edinburgh has a rich history that dates back to the 1900s. Originally constructed in 1898 and used as a department store, it was later transformed into a hotel.

The hotel’s architecture, with its Renaissance-Revival style and cream-sandstone façade, has remained intact while offering modern amenities and a stylish interior.

Verona was tasked by architects Cunningham McLean to source materials for a major upgrade of the lobby and circulation areas. The marble effect Prestigio range was selected in shades of white, black and cream for the main reception area.

Our Croma range in a classic monochrome combination was specified in the bar and restaurant with a hexagon mosaic to the bar apron. For the walls, a classic small-format crackle glaze wall tile was selected in white, burgundy and green tones around the bar.

The installation was expertly undertaken by Edgewater Contracts, and the staff and guests could not be happier with the finished project.

The job was managed by Craig Boyd for Verona, who accepted the challenge of sourcing modern materials that were sympathetic to the 1920s glamorous vibe achieved by the designers.
