Founders Hall

We are thrilled to have been involved in the creation of the Founders Hall bar and restaurant project in central Manchester.

Founders Hall is the latest concept from JW Lees, developed as a Beer Hall cum restaurant, it has been described as the perfect place to meet, eat and drink. Its location in the shadow of the historic Manchester Town Hall on Albert Square puts it front and centre of the Manchester social scene.

We were delighted to be able to contribute to the creation of this exciting venue by supplying a range of commercial tiles. The floor surrounding the bar features marble effect porcelain, water jet cut into a sophisticated white and black colour scheme. The tiles were carefully selected to add an element of elegance to the space while also serving as a functional guide for patrons to easily locate the serving area surrounding the bar. These tiles were chosen not only for their timeless design but also their high slip resistance rating (PTV>36 wet) which gave the specifier comfort in an environment prone to getting wet.

From Verona’s side, the project was managed by John Lannin, working to support the design ambition of in the in house design team at JW Lees. John presented a range of tiles for FOH feature walls and floors and W/C wall and floors. These included our KitKat mosaics for column cladding, bottle green zellige effect wall tiles for the back bars and our Bristol Bricks for the threshold. The W/Cs adopted a Victorian inspired scheme with small format bricks and faux encaustic porcelain tiles being used for both wall and floor.

We were doubly delighted to work with prestigious fit out contractor and long standing collaborator Myriad Contract Group Ltd, whose Project Director Leighton Holden commented. “Having worked with John Lannin for many years, we had a high degree of confidence that John would support the project with materials that were fit for purpose, available in the timescales required and within the overall budget for the project. As in the past, we were not let down in any way.”
