Environmental Statement
Verona understands that it has an impact on the environment and recognises that it has a responsibility to reduce that impact.
We have demonstrated our commitment to minimising our environmental impact by setting reduction targets with the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). The SBTi has approved our near-term science-based emissions reduction target. Our commitment is to reduce our Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year.
We are proud to be a ‘Carbon Measured’ organisation, and we continue to measure and report our carbon footprint annually and work towards our reduction targets. In our first reporting year since setting our SBTi reduction targets, Verona achieved a reduction of 36.2% in our Scope 1 & 2 emissions.
Verona have also committed to measure and reduce our Scope 3 emissions. To help us achieve this, we ask our suppliers to provide an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) or an equivalent Life-Cycle Analysis. This enables us to understand the environmental impact of our products during their life-cycle. We also ask our suppliers to explore opportunities for innovation, including alternative energy sources.
We encourage all our suppliers to:
- Measure and reduce their impact on the environment
- Optimise consumption of natural resources and energy
- Measure and reduce emissions of greenhouse gases
- Measure and reduce quantities of waste (including water) and develop recycling and recovery solutions
- Measure and reduce plastic and only use plastic containing at least 30% recycled plastic
- Ensure that any timber and timber products, including paper, are from certified sustainable sources such as FSC and PEFC.
In our first reporting year since setting our SBTi reduction targets, Verona achieved an 11.9% reduction in our Scope 3 emissions.
We aim to continuously review and improve our practices to ensure that we are operating in an ethical and sustainable manner.
