East Quay
Working with Roccul and The Tiling Company (Northern) Verona is proud to have supplied the tiled finishes into the extensive refurbishment and retrofit to 5 East Quay, Newcastle, a 35,000 sq ft office building on the iconic Quayside.
Our Gravel and Brera ranges were specified in a large 120x120cm format. Gravel series is inspired by Italian Sassi cement, this range stands out due to the stone and oxide inlays in the design coupled with the characteristic industrial look of cement. The Brera range follows a similar theme, perhaps more stone-oriented in concept, the agglomerate details in the design help to elevate the range from more simple stone-effect porcelains. This contemporary but timeless design combination was perfect for the extra-large square format.
All these elements combined to provide the project with a series of statement floors that would provide a high level of future-proofing as the use of the property evolves.
One of the main briefs for the project was the deliverability of BREEAM and to achieve an EPC of A which they succeeded in delivering. The floor tiles played a role in this mission with both series having a high recycled content and being produced by EPD accredited manufacturers.

“
Looking down the length of the Quayside and seeing all the different buildings and projects I have supplied tiles to gives me a sense of enormous pride.
Each of these projects needs all elements of the supply chain to come together to deliver for the client and working with our long-standing partners at the Tiling Company (Northern) and also Roccul on this project was a great example of this collaboration. We’ve delivered an office fit for the location and fit for this great city that Verona and I are proud to be associated with. “
